We are the largest and oldest JKD organization in existence. There are imitators but we are the real one. The JKD Association (JKDA) was the first to develop a structured JKD curriculum and to issue rank certification. It was founded and is headed up bu Professor Gary Dill, one of the original 1st generation students from the Oakland branch school.
The JKD Association has provided authentic JKD training to thousands of students across the U.S. and internationally. We specialize in teaching the original JKD, the same techniques, drills, and formats as it was actually developed by Bruce Lee. It is still taught by us the same way it was taught when he was still alive and in charge of the JKD curriculum at his three schools.
Our JKD format is strictly combat applications. There are no forms, no aesthetics, and no sport competition. Bruce Lee coined it as "Scientific Street fighting," and that is exactly what it is for.
The JKD Association teaches the real JKD, not some mutated format made up of numerous other martial arts. When you train with us, it is like you entered a time tunnel and was learning JKD in James Lee's garage in Oakland, California.

Professor Gary Dill began his JKD training in 1971 at the Oakland school under Sifu James Lee. All during the time Dill trained, Bruce Lee was alive and directing the JKD training program, and Professor Dill is one of the few original students still alive. In 1973, Dill started teaching JJKD and has been actively doing so since that time.
Being an internationally recognized instructor of JKD, Dill has written many articles for years for Black Belt, Inside Kung Fu, and other martial arts magazines.In the mid 1980's Professor Dill was on the Board of Directors of the Jeet Kune Do Society, which was the first JKD group which consisted of original students of JKD. In the late 1990's, Dill gave a speech at the Jun Fan JKD Nucleus Seattle Convention (copy of which is on this web site.)
As well as being a JKD practitioner, Dill has received legitimate black belts in other combat related martial arts, and is an internationally recognized Grandmaster, Shodai / Soke, 10th Dan of Bushido Kempo. He is on the board of directors of several major martial arts organizations. Grandmaster Dill is one of the Head Advisors and staff members for the famous World Head of Family Soke-ship Counsil (WHFSC), the world's largest and most prestigious grandmasters organization, and in which most of the world's most renowned martial arts grandmasters are members.
In addition to being a martial arts instruction, Professor Dill has spent most of his life in the military and in law enforcement, and is a strong advocate of realistic combat martial arts training. He has been active in the martial arts since 1963 and is a true pioneer of the worldwide martial arts community. |
