MISSION STATEMENT
SDS Combat Systems (CS) is an aggressive training program which specializes in teaching close quarters combat and weapons techniques (non firearm) to military, government, and private security personnel. The spectrum of training, depending upon the mission of the client, ranges from pain compliance and control techniques to neutralization / termination of the opponent.
Combat Systems provides realistic, common sense hand to hand combat instruction using techniques that are simple, practical, effective, and easy to learn. CS training is derived from several martial arts, but is void of the stereotype rituals, sport aspects, and fancy acrobatics.
Our training is based upon a set of basic “core techniques” which provides a strong foundation to the student for their survival in combat. We feel that it is far better to master a few techniques than to know many and master none.
The Basic Phase consists of learning basic “core” techniques, the tools, such as stance, footwork, blocking, punching, open hand striking, low-level kicking & kneeing, and grappling techniques (takedowns, chokes, joint-locks.) The Application Phase trains the student in the utilization of the “core” techniques in areas such as block & counters, entering & trapping (moving into the opponent for control), weapons defense, break-holds, and ground combat defense.
The Weapons Phase teaches the student the aggressive use of non-firearm weapons such as the knife, baton/ASP, machete, gun disarms (pistol and rifle), and how to improvise weapons (such as the belt, blanket, towel, ink pen, entrenching tool, empty pistol, etc). The Application Phase and Weapons Phase utilize the same basic tools and concepts of movement that are learned in the Basic Phase, resulting in the expedient learning and development of the student.
Combat Systems can customize a training program to fit the needs and mission of the client, with the client having the option of picking and choosing specific techniques and training. Also depending upon the client, we can provide a “fast track” program for a weekend, or we can develop training classes consisting of several days or several weeks.
The founder of SDS Combat Systems, Gary Dill, has over 42 years experience in training law enforcement, military, and civilian personnel. Dill is a former federal intelligence agent, criminal investigator, Chief of Police, and senior police defensive tactics instructor. As well as being a World Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee, Dill is also an internationally recognized Grandmaster of the martial arts. All CS instructors are highly skilled, mature martial artists with years of teaching experience; and all are trained, certified and supervised by Dill. Professor Dill personally teaches many of the CS classes as well as conducts workshops and training camps across the U.S. on a frequent and regular basis.
