Aiki-Jitsu
SDS Aiki-Jitsu is a traditional martial arts system, with an emphasis on effective personal protection and personal growth. Aiki-Jitsu is characterized by smooth flowing throws, joint-locks, submissions, chokes, strikes, and low level kicks. Founded by the Takeda Clan almost 900 years ago, Aiki-Jitsu maintains the traditional values of its warrior heritage, values such as honor, loyalty, courage, and respect.
SDS Aiki-Jitsu, founded by Master Carl Farinelli, 9th Dan, is a recognized division of Self-Defense Systems International (SDS) headed by Professor Gary Dill, 10th Dan Soke/Shodai. SDS Aiki-Jitsu is currently under the leadership of Soke-dai (s) Stu Fanning, Patrick Fanning, and Dennis Magee. (Soke-dai is the term for senior master / successor).
Training in Aiki-Jitsu is available through group classes in Tahlequah, SDS training camps & seminars, and DVD video instruction. Advanced students of related arts may cross rank into the system and then continue their development through the SDS Aiki-Jitsu Program. Bo-Jitsu
The Bo-Jitsu program is a comprehensive stick fighting system. It draws techniques and concepts from the arts of Bushido Kempo, Aiki-Jitsu, Escrima, Arnis, and Jodo. Bojitsu uses four separate lengths of weapons including the Yawara, Jo or Escrima Stick, Hanbo, and hte Bo. The focus of Bojitsu, like all other arts under the SDS umbrella, is on combat effectiveness and the drills and techniques necessary to develop the required skills. Bojitsu was developed and is overseen by Soke-Dai's Stu and Patrick Fanning, 8th Degree Black Belts.
Katame-Jitsu
Katame-jitsu is a training program developed by Dennis Magee, 8th degree black belt. This training focuses on street or sport combat from the grappling range, both while standing and on the ground. It has strong root in Aiki-jitsu, Ju-jitsu, Judo, Sambo, and American wrestling. Strikes and kicks are used to make Katame-jitsu a well-rounded art, but the primary focus is on combat groundfighting. |
